Character Education and Classroom Guidance

Character Education fosters the ability for children to learn empathetic, responsible and ethical ways to handle everyday situations.

Polo Ridge Elementary School has adopted the Charlotte Mecklenburg School's Character Education guidelines which include monthly traits that are incorporated into daily learning. We have adapted these traits to fit our needs as a school. These monthly traits are:
  • September: Respect
  • October: Responsibility
  • November: Honesty
  • December: Kindness
  • January: Teamwork
  • February: Growth Mindset
  • March: Courage
  • April: Perseverance
  • May: Gratitude
**If you will be doing a Character Education lesson in your child's classroom, and would like some lesson or book suggestions, they are hyper-linked to the traits above. A selection of Character books can also be found in the library, courtesy of the Media Specialist.

**If you would like full lessons, we are happy to help! Please contact either Mrs. Tylicki or Mrs. Stevenson for additional resources!
